methodology (Kappa9TM) allows the company to then plan and execute change within their organization. ICETM and Kappa9TM can also be deployed if your organization is in a reactive or crisis scenario by increasing your capabilities to attack problems and enhancing the countermeasures you can deploy against them.
When should you act? The earlier the better. The saying that “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure” has never been more true. If you feel that there are potential issues in your organization please contact us to discuss your needs in more detail. If you are not sure or feel that the possibility of issues in your organization are remote we have listed some of the usual suspects that characterize organizational problems: employee churn, poor talent management, reduced productivity, silo mentality and in-fighting, margin erosion, crisis management and firefighting, low morale and high absenteeism to name a few. If you recognize any of the above symptoms then you probably have corporate culture issues.0 |

The Challenge Most organizations face a never ending series of issues that threatens their ability to maintain peak performance. The challenge is to identify the issues early and take steps in a timely manner to minimize risk and exploit potential opportunities. Subsequent change initiatives are dependent on receiving these warnings early enough with sufficient credible evidence to support the need for change and enable effective planning. In doing so the organization becomes more proactive, agile and adaptable; thereby maintaining its competitive edge and securing long term success.
Threat v Opportunity However, time is of the essence here and situations can evolve rapidly. If an issue can be anticipated it may offer opportunities for organizational improvement and subsequently enhancing the business performance. If the issue is captured much later when it has developed into a risk it forces the organization to become reactive in order to minimize both the probability and impact. If it is captured too late the issue will have matured into a full blown crisis and the options are typically reduced to damage control, “firefighting” the symptoms and |

dealing with the political fallout.
What should you look at? The key elements of an organizational issue are its characteristics, the capability to attack it, the performance impact from it and finally the countermeasures available. These are time dependent where the adverse aspects will increment while the possibilities for positive change will decrement. Similarly, any expenditure by the organization moves over time from an investment to an ever increasing cash drain with little or no return. The chart on this page shows how time is critical for organizations to ensure they tackle threats early before they exceed the diminishing capabilities of the company.
What can be done? Most organizations would welcome an early warning system that not only picked up issues but also exposed opportunities. The key to providing such an instrument lies with the culture of the organization. This is a lead indicator and a rich source of information for issues and opportunities alike. DCI offer a unique instrument (ICETM) that reveals organizational culture and how it impacts on business performance. Our proven |
